Modesty at the Oscars

A 22 year old Muslim woman named Zainab Abdul-Nabi who was dressed modestly attracted many attendants and received thousands of applause at the 2014 Oscars academy awards ceremony. Many people have stated that she is the first ever headscarved woman to appear on the Oscars’ red carpet and the first to dress modestly. However we have seen modesty in the Oscars before. Read on to find out more about them. 

Soraya Burnat who is the wife of the Oscar-nominated filmmaker Emad Burnat, wore a beautiful traditional Palestinain dress also known as the "thoab" to the 2013 Oscars Academy wards.

However not only have we seen modesty from these two women at the Oscars; modest dresses have also been worn by other famous people such as Sally Field who is wearing Valentino and is dressed in red in the picture below, Alicia Vikander who is wearing Elie Saab and is dresses in blue in the picture below and Louise Roe who is wearing Black Halo and is dressed in light pink in the picture below.

I love seeing what people wear at the Oscars and getting inspired by all those lucky people who are wearing designer and I wish to become a designer myself. In addition when I heard about modest clothing at the Oscars and immediately saw them, I felt the urge to write about it so I hope you liked my post. Thank you x
